The ProfileTailor™ solution suite provides system analysis carried out by analytic tools combined with a business user-behavior algorithm. This approach to behavior analysis meets the challenges of coping with a vast amount of information and with numerous behavioral patterns. Analysis of user behavior and system analysis at the functional level enable us to provide new insights for Information Security Managers and Risk Directors in organizations.

ADP (Advanced Dynamic Profiling) Algorithm and Other Unique Methods

ProfileTailor™ is based on the ADP (Advanced Dynamic Profiling) algorithm, developed by XPANDION, to identify patterns of user behavior and to define an accurate profile for each user. Each user profile includes business processes, organizational level data, usability aspects, etc. Using the ADP algorithm, ProfileTailor™ defines “normal behavior” for each user.


XPANDION has also developed a method for filtering massive amounts of information while preserving only the relevant data. This required a combination of in-depth knowledge of infrastructure and business processes.
 

Connectivity to SAP Systems

The standard ProfileTailor™ package uses only standard functionality to gather data from SAP. No additional SAP code is required in order to work with ProfileTailor™.

In order to create an open system and to avoid performance issues during the data-gathering process, ProfileTailor™ uses web services. This technology, combined with ProfileTailor’s™ unique algorithm to reduce performance issues, enables fast simultaneous data access.

Unique Algorithm to Avoid Performance Issues


ProfileTailor™ was designed to ensure minimal impact on SAP machines during data transfer. Therefore, by default, ProfileTailor™ will get most of the required data only when the SAP system is not at peak activity levels. A unique algorithm scans SAP systems constantly in order to identify low activity time periods during the day ("Idle time"). When ProfileTailor™ identifies a period of low activity in SAP, it will attempt to gather the data. In addition, ProfileTailor™ includes an algorithm to predict the impact on SAP during the data download process.

Architecture and Development Language


ProfileTailor Dynamics was designed and implemented with the concept of simplicity:

1. The implementation of the product is very quick and easy.
2. Web-based, browser interface.
3. No impact on SAP from performance issues.
4. No impact on SAP upgrade projects.
5. Friendly, industry standard GUI.
6. Minimum hardware requirements. Microsoft .NET was chosen as the development language and environment so that the application could be built totally external to SAP, with the following benefits:

Installation can be done by any system administrator, without any impact on the SAP machine.
A .NET application has the regular look and feel of websites and therefore requires no training.
There is no impact on SAP from performance issues.
There is nothing to check in SAP when installing new support packages or upgrading the SAP system.
